The Best of Pointe Noire and Around: Congo Natural Wonders Tour

If you're on a business trip in Congo and you need a small break, this trip is the right answer to that dilemma...

Our staff will pick you up at your hotel in the morning to go to Lac Papyrus on the way to Cabinda (Angola.)

It is said that the papyrus plants were once imported by an expat who wanted to produce paper, and it's now found all around the lake. Locals believe the papyrus is some kind of spirit roaming around the lake, as it's constantly on the move.

Going by piroque with local fishermen who will show you the lake, you will enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding nature and the relaxing atmosphere of the area. There are many beautiful birds in all colors to be found (Angola-Congo is one of the most bird-biodiverse region of the world) and if you're lucky you might see some monkeys in the bushes as well.

At noon there will be a stop at Malonda Lodge, Pointe-Noire's most beautiful spot to have a drink near the ocean. You can have lunch and a cold drink with a breath-taking view of the beach and a small lagoon.

After lunch, it's time to head to Gorge Du Diosso (Diosso Gorge,) a beautiful red rock formation in the rainforest which stretches to the beach. Bring your hiking shoes if you like for a beautiful walk down the gorge all the way to the spectacularly scenic beach of Matombi, where you can refresh by taking a dive in the ocean, and enjoy the luxury of being the sole tourist in this tropical paradise.

After a beautiful sunset our staff will bring you back to your hotel.

*Meals and drinks are not included. Please bring
enough water, mosquito repellent, sun cream, swimming clothes and
towel and a hat and sunglasses as the sunlight on the boat is quite
bright.

**Guides are paid for, but it's good customs offering
some drinks, snacks, sweets or cigarettes of your own. This will
bring you a long way in Congo.

On this tour you will hike the jungle-capped ridges of Diosso Gorge, which plummet into the abyss of rainforest in a uniquely Congolese spectacle only in Pointe Noire. You will also see the terminus of the engineering wonder of the Congo Ocean Railway (Jungle Train.)

This tour samples the evolution of modern Africa set against the backdrop of its most striking scenery and geography.

You can also hire us for JUST Car Rental: (SUV with English-Speaking Guide and Driver and Fuel Daily, room for 4 people, NO tours or entrances or food included.) rather than the tour for the day. This way, you can go wherever you like and pay your own way rather than follow our suggested itinerary.

“Am just back from a wonderful 2 centre trip to the Republic of Congo. Started with 3 days in Pointe Noire and Conkouati National Park on the coast. The 2 days spent at the chimp rehabilitation and re wilding centre deep inside the park were magical, especially the boat ride up river into dense jungle. The volunteers, Heather, Clement and Chloe, couldn't have been kinder and my CTT guides Badji ( who coped gallantly with my abominable French! ) and Yves really went out of their way to make my stay a happy one. Much appreciated. The second leg took me to Brazzaville and included a ride up the mighty Congo to a fishing village and 2 days in Louna National Park, accompanied by lovely French Canadian Michael, who was the perfect host/guide... ,everything laid on right down to the bottle of Absolut he whipped out of his cold box along with a smoked chicken at our jungle camp. The camp has all mod cons, don't worry. The baby gorillas were beyond cute. The Congolese conservation staff do a fantastic job of caring for the orphaned ( with the hope of re introducing them into the wild ) and the elderly. The river trip was another stunner. In Congo, don't expect to see animals in the vast numbers you might get in the safari parks of Eastern and Southern Africa but the quality of the experience is what counts not the quantity of creatures. I will never forget the brief moment I looked into the eyes of a shy forest elephant only feet away in Conkouati and close encounters with swimming hippos in Louna Park; the boat had to make a rapid getaway from a big male who objected to us lurking around his ladies. CTT does a very professional job... and that's from someone who works in the tourism industry herself! Highly recommended."
