This is a complete tour of the Sangha Trinational Park in which you will visit Dzanga Sangha in Central African Republic, Nouabalé Ndoki in the Republic of Congo and Lobéké in Cameroon. The travel includes safari activities and gorilla tracking.

The Sangha Trinational Park consists mainly of forest and is located in the north of Congo-Brazzaville, south-east of Cameroon and the south of the Central African Republic, the three parks are neighboring and are an important refuge for local wildlife, especially primates, elephants, buffaloes and antelopes. The total size of the park is around 750,000 hectares and has been declared a World Heritage Site in 2012.

We can find forest elephants, forest buffaloes, giant forest hogs, red river hogs, bongo, sitatunga, chimpanzees, western lowland gorillas, African grey parrots, Nile crocodiles, goliath tiger fish and many other species in the parks of Lobéké, Dzanga Sangha and Nouabalé Ndoki.

Lobéké is a national park of almost 2.200 km² of forest in the extreme south-east of Cameroon and is part of the Congo basin and part of the Sangha Trinational Park. Lobéké was created in 2001. We find a lot of marshy clearnings and a rich biodiversity in fauna and flora. There are several viewing platforms all over Lobéké National Park from where you can observe wildlife and do birding. We can stay at the platforms of Ngoa, Bolo, Petite Savanne, Djangui, Ndangaye and Djaloumbe.

Nouabalé-Ndoki is a park in the north of Congo-Brazzaville south of Dzanga Sangha. Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park is 4.000 km² big and was formed in 1993 and is home to a lot of wildlife like gorillas, chimpanzees and forest elephants, next to antelopes and birds. Just like Lobéké and Dzanga Sangha, the park has world heritage status. You can do gorilla tracking in both Nouabalé Ndoki and Dzanga Sangha during your safari travel. As of 2022 the park is being restructured and the new infrastructure should be ready in 2023 and from then on you can book your safari and gorilla tracking in Nouabalé-Ndoki again together with your tour in Lobéké and Dzanga Sangha. One of the most imporants sites in Nouabalé-Ndoki Naitonal Park is Mbeli Bai from where you can observe the wildlife.

Dzanga Sangha is located in the south of the Central African Republic and is one of the best wildlife destinations in Africa. Anyone who is serious about mammals and who has seen the big five and done their classic safaris should add Dzanga Sangha on their bucket list of things to visit in Africa. During your stay you will stay in the forest and see animals such as galagos, bats, squirrels, pangolins and monkeys. You’ll also get to know the Ba’ka tribe and be able to participate activities with this pygmy tribe. The most impressive activitiy is to watch wildlife from the Dzanga Bai viewing platform, where you can see up to two hundred forest elephants!

Please, add a few buffer days to your itinerary in case there are any delays. We are not responsible for you missing your flight because of bad planning! Please, know that this travel includes hiking through shallow streams and the forest. Also know that wildlife is unpredictable and there is always a risk when you are approaching wildlife, so keep your distance and know the risks involved when visiting the rainforest. Make sure you bring a mask for when you’re visiting the gorillas or mangabeys as this is mandatory.

The accommodation in Lobéké and Nouabalé is very basic (camping), as well as the meals.
