Congo River Full Day Tour and Picnic on River Island

Ride a pirogue for an amazing and timeless adventure into Africa’s most famous river. Gaze at monstrous Kinshasa and the countless ships, villages, and local fishermen as you go further up toward the islands and villages north of the rivertowns. See farmers tilling the riverside and going about their daily lives. See the DRC’s nearby river villages and markets, and communities on the enormous island in the river north of the Congo Pool.

BBQ Picnic Lunch in the middle of the river, in a private sand island or at Faignond village overlooking Congo River Rapids!

The tour includes a scenic picnic on the river, in the middle of the Malebo Pool (the swell of the Congo River upstream from Kinshasa and Brazzaville, that concentrates its greatest flow) for you and your friends to enjoy. (An essential memory of your visit, and the best activity for any weekend!)

*Tours can also be scheduled at your leisure on a day and time and pickup spot of your choice.

**All tours include captain/driver, all park entrance fees, and of course the boat with all fuel and life jackets for all passengers. If you have any special arrangements you’d like to make please ask us. Prices are per person.

**Barbecues are available on the weekends (order on the spot,) while picnics in the middle of the Congo River are available on weekdays (which we cater.)

Reviews

“In July 2015 I made a trip of almost three weeks in DR Congo. John Katumba from CTT (CT) was my guide. First we visited Kinshasa and the surrounding area including the bonobo sanctuary and the Zongo Falls. Then we flew to Mbandaka for a week-long trip in the deep jungle. We visited a number of Pygmy villages, by pirogue. Unique experience. Finally, we flew to Lubumbashi where we visited the Lofoi Falls and the mining area around Likasi. All in all it was a fascinating journey. DR Congo is not the easiest country to travel. All the time John took great care of me, paying attention to my health and safety. Also in situations where things turn out differently from what was planned or anticipated, John came up with a good alternative. In one word, John is a very professional guide. I warmly recommend him."
