Congo Travel and Tours personnel generally help with currency exchange during your trip. Exchange bureaus and banks are available in most major cities. Carry with you enough cash in US dollars for personal spending as credit cards and traveler’s checks are not known and widely NOT accepted in shops. However, ATMs do dispense both $US and Franco-Congolese monies, particularly in Kinshasa. The Visa card is more widely accepted than MasterCard, both in ATMs and in good hotels and restaurants.
