Lake Munkamba is located in central Africa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the beautiful and rich province of Kasai Occidental ,87 km from the city of Mbuji Mayi. We will travel together to discover this lake whose entire history remains a mystery with a secret that has never been revealed to ordinary people.

The history of Lake Munkamba takes place between the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century; For the ancients who did not have the aerial view of this lake, they believed that it was in the form of a human being stretched out with legs apart, arms outstretched vertically, with trunk and head. This mysterious form of the lake introduces us to the bath of its mysterious history.Luntu people used to live in the region of the lake until today. Other Luntu were forced to immigrate far from their lands because of the fury of the waters which, after appearing as a source of water, immediately engulfed them. lands, villages and part of the population. The history of this wonderful lake has been passed down to us orally from our parents from generation to generation since the 17th century. Today, when viewed from the air, our Lake Munkamba looks more like a bird with outstretched wings or an Osiris.

Itinerary

For this tour we will go from Mbuji-Mayi in a comfortable 4×4 in the early morning. We will have lunch near the lake and then you’ll have the next 24 hours for yourself to discover the area. We will also arrange a boat tour for you (if available that time) to go see the lake.
