Kasai River 7-Day Tiger Fishing Adventure
Beginning in central Angola and flowing to the east until it reaches the Democratic Republic of Congo Territory, Kasai River at 2,153 km is the longest river in the southern Congo River basin system. It is the chief southern tributary of the Congo River where the ferocious Tiger fish or Mbenga, massive species of catfish, and other elusive, some still unnamed, freshwater monsters reside.
The most upstream navigable point of the might Kasai River is the humble town of Ilebo. Formerly known as Port-Francqui, this town is an important transport and communications hub in the DRC, linked to Kinshasa by boat and to Lubumbashi by rail.
On this tour, we will discover the authentic, raw side of the DRC on this week-long adventure: wild rivers, deep lush vegetation, and red sandy roads crossing the country. Not your ordinary fishing adventure with your pals where you're comfortably accommodated in luxury lodges next to lagoons, this week-long trip will make you feel like a local as you do how they do it on the daily, some times with hardships and annoyances, but nonetheless rewarding at the end of the day.
Day 1: Arrival in Kinshasa
Meet the team at the airport and drive to your hotel. You'll then be briefed by your guide and the rest of the day will be at your leisure.
Day 2: Kinshasa - Ilebo
Hop on a plane from Kinshasa and arrive in Ilebo. Head to your Ilebo campsite, where you may start setting up and pitching in your tent accommodation for the next couple of nights. You'll have a guide, cook, and onsite assistance to make sure you will be safe and have everything you need.
Day 3 to 6: Kansai River Fishing
On days 3 to 6, you'll have the best 4 days of tiger fishing fun with a private boat and a captain who knows all the nooks and crannies of the river and is knowledgeable of the excellent spots to reel in the meanest fish on the planet.
Day 7: Ilebo - Kinshasa
Return by plane to Kinshasa. Upon arrival, you'll be assisted and transferred by our team to your hotel.

Please Note
- As international and domestic flights from Kinshasa may be delayed at times, please allow enough buffer days before departing the city (up to one week if possible). CTT offers excellent trips from Kinshasa to keep yourself busy during those days.
“Hi Chris,Your staff and tour team were amazing! Ana showed up on time, which, after our experience with getting to the Congo, was amazing in itself. I loved the trip up the river in the pirogue and hope that Ana got a photo of me in the boat. I did get lots of interesting photos myself. My favorite parts the next day were visiting the museum about de Brazza and seeing the boys jumping into the rapids on the river. This part may not have been on the original tour but suggested by Fernand as a place to have lunch -- at the Rapids restaurant. Fernand, Mayc, and Serge were all reliable, caring and hospitable. They made me feel at home. Ana is a jewel -- friendly, reliable, adventurous and lovely.The trip to the gorilla preserve was also excellent. The preserve itself was very nice and it was wonderful to see the work they are doing protecting the gorillas. I sent two photos to Ana of the gorillas, but will send some other photos later.I would recommend Congo Travel and Tours to friends and family.
