THE BRIDGE FURTHER DOWN TO THE NORTH FROM BRAZZAVILLE IS CLOSED INTERMITENTLY AND DANGEROUS AS OF AUGUST 2017 - DO NOT ATTEMPT THE NORTHERN CROSSING - THERE HAVE BEEN SERIOUS MUGGINGS AND EVACUATIONS OF INJURED OVERLANDERS TRAVELING ALONE.

4wds used to have to go to Kinkala then Boko then Luozi. Now they are stuck in the capital or have to turn around and go through Gabon. Due to the political situation on the south part of the country (Pool) the ROC road can be closed or dangerous sometimes. Please get real information on this rather than surfing Tripadvisor and Lonely Planet Thorntree and Century Club forums.  The DRC roads due to Angola and east to Lubumbashi may not pan out for you either, so make sure you have your visas firmly in the passport for Angola if you are bound that way, and plan on a very very long drive and lots of breakdowns to reach Katanga.

It starts from 4000 euro to cross the river as it comes with a bunch of paperwork and hassle on the DRC side, and this includes also permission to drive in the DRC. You need to wait 1- 3 days in Kinshasa for the car to arrive until it's cleared. Don't ask for cheaper - it won't happen.
