Multi-Day Tours From Kisangani

The Bili Forest region became famous in the early 2000’s after reports of a group of abnormally big chimpanzees which are living in this area. This claim was based on local witnesses as well as researchers. It is still up to debate whether this is a new species or a subspecies of the chimpanzee. For this expedition we’re going north of Kisangani to the isolated Bili Forest which we’ll explore on foot and by boat in search of chimpanzees and other animals which roam the area. It is the perfect travel for those who are looking for a completely off the grid travel in Congo.

During this complete visit, you’ll get an introduction to the city and we will stay with the Wagenia fishermen near the Boyoma Waterfalls on their island in the Congo River. Afterwards we will go to Yangambia, where we’ll visit the research center and biosphere and we’ll also visit the Lokele Tribe, which we’ll all do by boat on the Congo River.

Visit the once forgotten, but now revived research center and biosphere of Yangambi. We’ll go by boat from Kisangani to Yangambi on the Congo River and will stay for four days, during which you’ll get to learn everything there is to know about the center. You’ll get the chance to also visit the surrounding forest.

Expedition to the little explored Maiko National Park, home to iconic animals such as okapi and chimpanzees. For this tour we team up with the Ministry of Tourism and the ICCN. This expedition goes in very isolated areas and involves camping, hiking and exploring the forest by pirogue.
